TMJ disorder is a condition of the joint connecting the upper and lower jaw bones. Signs and symptoms may include:
• pain or tenderness of the jaw
• difficulty chewing food
• facial pain and soreness
• achy teeth
• pain around the ears
• locking of the joint making it difficult to open or close the mouth
• head aches
• uneven bite
TMJ is mostly stress related although in some cases accidents could cause that as well as arthritic joints
Treatment options include:
• fabricating of a custom night quard or dental splint
• jaw exercises sometimes with physical therapist
• restorative dental work
•pharmaceutical treatments
The source of the condition must also be diagnosed.
