Each of our teeth contains a long, thin strand of dental pulp which is filled with a network of nerves and tissue. If the nerve dies and decays, the teeth can get infected resulting in abscesses that

cause a great deal of pain and discomfort. To prevent this, we drill a gap into the tooth's crown and pulp chamber, cleans out the infected pulp and permanently seals the tooth with a crown. The procedure can save teeth from eventually being lost or having to be removed and is often permanent.

With the latest technologies including the newest rotary instruments and anesthetics, root canal treatment does not need to be any more uncomfortable than having a filling placed.
